On March 13, a rally against the United States and Israel was held in Iran’s capital, Tehran. Demonstrators supporting the government chanted slogans such as “Death to the United States” and “Death to Israel.” Footage circulating on social media shows that during the rally an airstrike hit a nearby area. According to reports, the building that was struck belonged to the Basij paramilitary force.
The strike and the explosion reportedly made the demonstrators even more active. It should be noted that similar rallies were held in several Iranian cities on Friday. In Iran, Quds Day—observed on the last Friday of the month of Ramadan—traditionally features demonstrations with slogans against the United States and Israel. In addition to Tehran, a rally was also held in Isfahan, where the flags of both countries were burned.
