A large-scale fire broke out at Fujairah oil industry in the UAE on Tuesday morning after an Iranian drone strike. The fire was caused by falling debris from an intercepted drone. Video footage from the site shows thick black plumes of smoke emerging from the oil refinery, which is one of major energy export hubs of the UAE. Officials in the UAE confirmed that a fire erupted Tuesday at an oil storage and trading facility in the emirate of Fujairah. They stated that the blaze was quickly contained, operations in the area have since returned to normal, and no injuries were reported. This was the first such incident in Fujairah. UAE’s Ras Al Khaimah city also reported a drone attack in residential areas for the first time on Monday. Visuals have also emerged from an Iranian drone that struck the Port of Salalah in southern Oman.
The port is one of key maritime and logistics hubs in the country. Iran has unleashed unprecedented air strikes on US allies across the Middle East, including on energy infrastructure and oil facilities. Iranian missiles and drones have been launched toward multiple countries, including Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Iraq, Oman. The strikes are in retaliation to the joint US and Israeli attacks on Iran launched on Saturday morning. At least 555 people have been killed in the recent wave of strikes on Iran since February 28. These strikes have hit more than 130 towns and cities across Iran, with casualties including civilians and damage to residential areas, and the figure is likely to rise as reporting continues.
