A permanent monument in Vaughan will honor people killed in Iran earlier this year so that they are “never forgotten,” Mayor Steven Del Duca told Iran International’s Mahsa Mortazavi on Sunday. Del Duca, who described the killings as a “horrific mass slaughter,” said the Iranian-Canadian community’s resolve was not fading, pointing to more than 3,000 people who attended an event with Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi in the Greater Toronto Area last week. “I will always be there with you, supporting you every step of the way until we can have celebrations in a free Iran,” he said.
