Johann Wadephul, Germany’s foreign minister, warned that Iran must stop launching what he called “irresponsible” attacks on third countries as tensions in the Middle East continue to escalate. Speaking alongside Dutch officials, Wadephul said attacks on uninvolved states were “completely unjustified” but added there was currently no immediate threat to the NATO alliance. Germany also announced nearly €100 million in humanitarian aid to help civilians displaced by the conflict. Meanwhile, the Netherlands is considering deploying a naval frigate to the Mediterranean as part of the Charles de Gaulle Carrier Strike Group led by France. European leaders warn the expanding conflict could trigger further regional instability and a potential new refugee crisis.
