Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has sharply criticized the war in Iran, calling it an “extraordinary mistake” and warning that the conflict will bring rising oil and gas prices as well as more suffering across the Middle East. Speaking in Huelva, Sánchez said the war launched by Donald Trump alongside Israel is outside international law and that allies should speak out when mistakes are made. The remarks come after Trump threatened to cut off trade with Spain when Madrid refused to allow US forces to use Spanish military bases for attacks on Iran. The dispute also follows tensions over NATO defence spending targets pushed by Washington. The diplomatic clash highlights growing divisions among Western allies as the Iran conflict continues to escalate across the Middle East.
