Former Iranian political prisoner and NYU international relations professor Kian Tajbakhsh says the current conflict should be viewed as part of a decades-long confrontation between Iran, the U.S. and Israel. Speaking to Global’s Jazan Grewal, Tajbakhsh said many Iranians see the strikes as a response to a conflict that began with the 1979 revolution. He also warned the risk of escalation remains as tensions across the region continue to grow.
