Israel’s Minister of Defence Israel Katz said Iran’s security chief Ali Larijani had been ‘eliminated’. Iran has not yet commented on the claims. Since the war began more than two weeks ago, Iran’s retaliation can best be described as asymmetric — using unconventional tactics to counter the overwhelming military power of the United States and Israel. These tactics include deploying drones and missiles to overwhelm air defenses, targeting shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, and conducting cyberattacks against Western institutions. The response spans a wide spectrum. DW speaks to military analyst Marina Miron from King’s College London and Kamran Matin, Associate Professor of International Relations at the University of Sussex.
