The White House has accused Iran of acting like “a bunch of pirates” after its Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy fired on three ships and captured two in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency said the action was taken on Wednesday by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards for maritime violations, according to Reuters. Speaking to Fox News on Wednesday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the actions did not violate the current US-Iran truce because “these were not US ships, these were not Israeli ships”. “Iran has gone from having the most lethal navy in the Middle East to now acting like a bunch of pirates they don’t have control over the strait,” she said. “This is piracy that we are seeing on display, and the naval blockade that the United States has imposed continues to be incredibly effective,” she added.
