Donald Trump has cancelled a planned trip to Pakistan by envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner for a second round of talks with Iran. On his ‘Truth Social’ platform Trump complained that the peace process was – quote – ‘too much work’. The cancellation came as Iran’s foreign minister Abbas Araghchi reportedly left Islamabad to go to Oman. He met earlier with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, saying Iran would continue engaging in the Pakistani-mediated negotiations until a result is achieved – but he ruled out direct talks with US negotiators.
