Held in Tehran in September 1974, the 7th Asian Games brought together more than 3,000 athletes from 25 countries, making it the largest edition of the Games at that time. For two weeks, Tehran became the sporting capital of Asia, welcoming athletes, officials, journalists, and visitors from across the continent.
Using rare archival footage, original broadcasts, and historic commentary, this documentary revisits the opening ceremony at Aryamehr Stadium, the torch relay through Tehran, the construction of the Aryamehr Sports Complex and Olympic Village, and the scale of planning that allowed Iran to host a major international event.
The film also explores the wider meaning of the Games. Tehran 1974 was not only a sporting competition; it was a statement of national confidence, modernisation, and ambition. Iran built one of the largest and most advanced sports complexes in the Middle East, created facilities for athletes and international media, and presented itself as a country capable of hosting events on a global scale.

The final football match between Iran and Israel, played in front of 100,000 spectators, became one of the most memorable moments of the Games. Iran’s victory gave the country its first Asian Games football gold medal and brought the event to an unforgettable close.
