John Kirby: Iran, U.S. are ‘misreading’ each other

Former White House National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby, a retired rear admiral, joins Morning Joe to discuss the state of the war with Iran. Amid fighting over control of the Strait of Hormuz, Kirby says Iran and the U.S. appear to be “misreading” each other. Iran, he says, incorrectly thinks President Donald Trump would “do anything” for a deal before the November elections. And the U.S., Kirby adds, doesn’t understand the ideological “split” between Iran’s moderates and the Revolutionary Guard.
