Spain claims half of migrants who rushed across border have returned

Half of the people who rushed across the border from Morocco into Spain have voluntarily returned, Spanish authorities say. Up to 60,000 people overwhelmed border control and crossed from the North African country into the EU territory of Ceuta. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez is now under mounting pressure to get the country’s borders under control, while European leaders including Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and UK counterpart Andy Burnham have expressed concern.
