Three of the six Iranian soccer players who sought asylum in Australia have decided to return to Iran. Sky News Australia can reveal the athletes were approached during drug testing while visiting with the Iranian women’s soccer team for the Asia Cup. It was at that time some players were asked if they wished to claim asylum and encouraged to pass on the option to teammates, which led to the initial requests.
