The speaker of Iran’s Parliament, who is believed to be leading Iran’s talks with the US, claims “enemies” are preparing to occupy Iranian islands. Posting on X, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said intelligence showed one of Iran’s islands was under threat, warning of “relentless attacks” against anyone who targets it. The post appears to be in reference to reports the US is looking to capture Iran’s Kharg Island, which doubles as a strategic oil port.
