The Middle East marks one month of war this Saturday, as the United States says it “hopes” to hold talks with Iran this week to end the conflict. The war was triggered on February 28 by US and Israeli strikes on Iran. Since then, the conflict has severely impacted civilian populations in the region and caused disruptions to gas and oil supplies, shaking the global economy.

When the United States “has finished” with the Iranians in the coming weeks, “they will be weaker than they have been in recent history,” he asserted. The US Secretary of State also maintained that the United States could still achieve its objectives without sending ground troops.
