US President Donald Trump has announced he has agreed to a ceasefire and halted all attacks against Iran for two weeks. Trump’s announcement came in a Truth Social post following “conversations” with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir. The president revealed that Iran agreed to a “safe opening of the Strait of Hormuz” if Trump held off “the destructive force” sent to attack Iran’s infrastructure. Trump claimed a “10-point proposal” was sent by Iran, which the president believed was a “workable basis on which to negotiate”.
