According to the latest reports, the Iranian news agency Fars claims that air defense systems shot down a US fighter jet while it was flying over an area near Tehran. The Iranian military is searching for the pilot and co-pilot.
US officials confirm that the aircraft was shot down in Iran. Images reaching us suggest an operation is already underway to quickly recover the crew.
For its part, Iranian state television has announced that a reward will be offered for the capture of the pilot(s).
