The US military announced Wednesday that it had fired on an Iranian-flagged oil tanker that attempted to break through the blockade of Iranian ports imposed by Washington in order to “neutralize its rudder.”
“After the crew of the Hasna failed to heed repeated warnings, US forces neutralized the tanker’s rudder by firing several salvos” from an aircraft launched from the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, deployed in the region, it added, specifying that “the Hasna is no longer en route to Iran.”
This is the second time the United States has intervened to neutralize an Iranian ship that did not comply with the blockade they put in place on April 13, after a first round of negotiations with Tehran failed.
