A funeral for Iran’s former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei is scheduled to take place next month. Iranian state media reports that a farewell ceremony will be held in Tehran on July 4 and 5, followed by funeral ceremonies in Tehran and the holy city of Qom. He is expected to be buried in Mashhad after a further ceremony on July 9. State media reports that Khamenei was killed in an airstrike in the opening phase of the current conflict in Iran.
