Iran’s supreme leader on Thursday urged the people of his country to “stand firm, clear-sighted and united” in the face of the “hybrid warfare scheme” by Israel and the U.S.
According to Associated Press the message by Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei was read out by his representative during an event in Tehran marking the anniversary of the 1989 death of the late supreme leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.
Iran’s supreme leader warned that the country’s enemies, after what he described as battlefield setbacks, are pursuing “hybrid warfare” aimed at weakening public resilience and influencing government decision-making.
“The enemy is now focusing its hybrid warfare scheme on two points: weakening the people’s resilience and causing errors in the decision-making system of the country’s officials,” the message said, as crowds gathered at the shrine of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.
The statement, read by Mohammad Javad Haj Ali Akbari, a cleric close to Khamanei and his representative, called for unity and caution against internal division.
“Everyone must stand firm, clear-sighted and united and build mutual trust, and avoid echoing the enemy,” he said.
Officials, including Expediency Council member and former Islamic Revolutionary Guard chief Gen. Mohsen Rezaei, attended the ceremony, where participants waved Iranian flags alongside Hezbollah banners.
Khamenei has not appeared in public since he was reportedly wounded early in the recent war with the U.S and Israel that saw his father, Ayatollah Ali Kahmenei, and other family members killed.
