Deakin University Global Islamic Politics Chair Professor Greg Barton discusses the potential for a deal between the United States and Iran.
“The Iranians unfortunately feel they have the upper hand … even though they’ve got, you know, very little air force or navy left, they can still project power, particularly across the Strait of Hormuz,” Mr Barton told Sky News host Steve Price.
“The uncomfortable reality for President Trump is that the least worst of the options is to enter into an agreement that enables further negotiations down the track, including particularly of the nuclear program.
“He knows that; he just doesn’t want to be seen to be a loser. He always wanted to be seen to be the guy holding the cards; it does look like he’s not really holding the cards.”
