The war between the US and Iran is expanding, and has drawn in new players. After a brief lull in the fighting, on Wednesday Saudi Arabia confirmed its forces had joined the US military to hit targets in Iraq. The Saudis said pro-Iranian militias based there had recently been launching strikes on Saudi oil facilities. The US-Saudi strikes followed what Washington called “an attempted surprise attack” by Iranian ballistic missiles on US forces in the Middle East.
