Canada announced $37.7 million in funding for critical assistance in Lebanon as the country is caught in the midst of attacks by Israel in its fight with Hezbollah. Secretary of State for International Development Randeep Sarai was in Ottawa on Thursday with Minister of Foreign Affairs Anita Anand, where they announced the aid. “The people of Lebanon are paying a heavy price for this conflict between Israel and Hezbollah. Civilians have been unwillingly drawn into this conflict and are now bearing the brunt of it,” Sarai said. Anand said, “To the people of Lebanon, even in the face of immense hardship, you continue to stand by one another, and Canada will continue to stand with you.”
