US President Donald Trump has ordered the country’s navy to block all ships from entering and exiting the Strait of Hormuz, after talks in Islamabad failed to produce a peace deal with Iran. The US leader blamed Iran’s nuclear ambitions for the failed negotiations, while Tehran labelled Washington’s demands as excessive. Democrat politicians such as Senator Mark Warner have raised doubt about how the blockade will achieve the White House’s objectives.
