A memorandum of understanding has been reached between the United States and Iran on Sunday, according to U.S. President Donald Trump and Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The details of the deal are set to be released by Friday. However, Trump, Sharif and Iranian officials have said the Strait of Hormuz is set to be reopened in full without any tolls and there will be a lifting of the American naval blockade as well as a halt to the conflict in the region – including in Lebanon. But as Reggie Cecchini explains, this memorandum of understanding doesn’t include a resolution for issues surrounding Iran’s economy or procurement of nuclear materials.
