Peace talks between the US and Iran are underway in Islamabad, Pakistan. US Vice President JD Vance has met Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif ahead of the peace talks. This comes after US President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social: “The Strait of Hormuz will soon be open, and the empty ships are rushing to the United States to ‘load up’.” The US Central Command also announced that two of its warships have sailed through the Strait of Hormuz as part of a plan to remove mines from the critical waterway. A spokesperson of Iran’s military has denied the claims, saying no American vessels have entered the Strait of Hormuz.
