The fanfare of a three-page memo meant to bring the U.S.-Iran war to an end hit an abrupt halt on Friday, after the formal signing ceremony in Switzerland was called off. Cracks appear to be forming already amid a fragile truce in Lebanon, and criticism of the deal from Donald Trump’s own party — members of which claim the U.S. capitulated and is now weaker. Even without the formal signing, some aspects of the MOU are playing out with the movement of vessels through the Strait of Hormuz.
