The US has begun launching what it calls ‘self-defence’ strikes on Iran in response to the downing of one of its Apache helicopters patrolling the Strait of Hormuz. Donald Trump says both pilots onboard are safe and uninjured. Americas Editor John Lyons suggests that Trump is unlikely to want to escalate the war, but Iran might strike the Gulf states in retaliation.
