Germany’s flag carrier Lufthansa says it will operate more than half of its scheduled flights despite a two-day pilot strike organized by the Vereinigung Cockpit. The walkout, linked to an ongoing dispute over pensions, is expected to lead to hundreds of cancellations across German airports. However, the airline says around 60% of long-haul flights and about 80% of cargo services will continue operating. The strike comes as the global aviation industry already faces disruption due to the Iran–Israel conflict, which has forced airlines to cancel or reroute flights across the Middle East. Lufthansa has already suspended routes to destinations such as Tel Aviv, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi due to the security situation. Passengers at airports including Munich reported delays and frustration, while union leaders say strikes are necessary to push the airline toward negotiations on pension reforms.
